Social Responses
In the above picture, you can observe the severe impacts that the drought had on the land in the Prairies. Due to poor agricultural practices, as the wind blew past the dirt and soil, it picked up the dirt along with it, forming a massive dust bowl. This forced farmers to abandon their farms and homes, which were basically their source of income. Along with this, Canadian society responded to the Great Depression by collecting "Pogey", "Riding the Rails", and by participating in the On-to-Ottawa Trek.
